Virginia State School ladies lunch 2014
Dynamo organiser bows out with another success
MORE than 65 mums and friends from the Virginia State School community gathered for what could be the final Ladies Luncheon fundraiser, farewelling organiser Patrice Wells.
The tradition began four years ago, when mum of two sons, Patrice, wanted to raise money for screens in one of the school’s demountable classrooms. She organised the luncheon at Virginia Golf Club and it was an immediate hit that became an annual mainstay of the school calendar.
Well-supported by local businesses who donated more than 30 prizes to be raffled off, the event this year raised more than $1100, which will go towards the school’s new junior playground.
Hosted at the Nudgee Golf Club, the luncheon was attended by mums, grandmothers and female friends of the school community.
P&C President Kerry Brand thanked Patrice (pictured) for her dedication to the school community, raising thousands of dollars over the years to equip the school with improved resources, including screens, air-conditioning and playground equipment.
This is the last year Patrice will have a child at the school.
Her luncheon events have become legendary within the school community and have grown in popularity every year.
