Teen girl charged over Zillmere phone robbery

POLICE had charged a 16-year-old girl after two teenage boys were assaulted and robbed on Monday afternoon (June 16) in Zillmere.

It would be alleged that around 4.30pm, two 16-year-old boys were on the road on Crowley St, when they were approached by a small black four-wheel-drive with three occupants, police media reported.

The occupants of the vehicle threatened and assaulted both boys before fleeing the scene with two mobile phones.

It is further alleged the vehicle used during this incident was stolen from a property at Helensvale sometime between midday on June 13 and yesterday afternoon.

The vehicle was located at Bracken Street, Bracken Ridge around 9.45am this morning after it crashed into a light pole.

The 16-year-old girl has been charged with three counts of stealing, and one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, armed robbery, demanding property with menace, and obstruct police. She will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

Police investigations are continuing.
