Police battle unruly teen mobs at Fitzgibbon party

A POLICE officer was injured and a police vehicle damaged at an out-of-control party at Fitzgibbon, in north Brisbane, on Friday night, July 18, police media reported.

Police were called to an address on at the intersection of Carselgrove Ave and Roghan Rd, where it will be alleged that about 140 teenagers had spilled on to the street and small fights had broken out.

“Responding to the incident, it will be alleged that a police officer was punched in the back of the head and an object was thrown, smashing the front windscreen of a police vehicle,” police media said.

“A 16-year-old boy from Bracken Ridge has been charged with two counts of assault or obstruct police and will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act.”

Police said they also allegedly dealt with several others on resist arrest and public nuisance charges, including five teenagers, male and female aged 16-20 years.

The male officer sustained minor injuries but did not require medical treatment.
